MEETING OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE HALK MASLAKHATY OF THE MILLI GENGESH OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN

On December 14, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who arrived in our country to participate in the first trilateral summit of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Turkiye.

Discussing the issues of expanding bilateral cooperation in the economic sphere, the interlocutors stressed the importance of the activities of the joint Turkmen-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, which met on November 29, 2022 in Baku.

Among the achievements of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani cooperation, the interlocutors noted the signing on January 21, 2021 in Ashgabat of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on joint exploration, development and completion of the “Dostluk” hydrocarbon field in the Caspian Sea.

The interlocutors also paid attention to interaction in the humanitarian field, speaking in favor of further expanding cooperation in culture, science and education, as well as healthcare and tourism.
