ASHGABAT HOSTED AN INTERNATIONAL FORUM DEDICATED TO THE WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

On June 5, 2018, an international scientific and practical conference "Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road - the region of ecological well-being", dedicated to the World Environment Day had been held in the conference hall of the Agricultural Complex. The forum was organized by the State Committee for Environmental Protection and Land Resources.

Heads and specialists of nature protection departments and structures, representatives of sectoral ministries, academics and ecologists of the Academy of Sciences and higher educational institutions, public organizations of the country, deputies of the national parliament, representatives of the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia, The EU Coordinating Bureau in Turkmenistan, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, the Society for International Cooperation of Germany (GIZ), the Royal Society of Great Britain for the Protection of Birds, the Norwegian Institute for Research in nature participated in the conference.

The participants listened with great attention to the Address of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the employees of the sphere of environmental protection of Turkmenistan.

During the conference, presentations were made on various aspects of Turkmenistan's further fruitful cooperation with international organizations in the field of ecology in the framework of joint programs and projects, particularly in the field of biodiversity, climate change, water conservation and management, development of a network of specially protected areas of the country, artificial islands on the coast of the Caspian Sea.

A demonstrative illustration of the achievements of our country in the field of environmental protection was an exhibition in the foyer of the Agricultural Complex. The books of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took their honorable place here.

 Also, within the framework of the celebrations dedicated to the World Environment Day, the exhibition "Turkmen Nature on the Route of the Great Silk Road" was opened in the State Museum of the State Cultural Center. The seminar held at the Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences was devoted to the issues of introduction of scientific developments and innovations into the sphere of environmental activity.
