Delegates of the ABU General Assembly study the culture of Turkmenistan
Cultural programme for the delegates of the forum has been organized under the 55th session of the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union general Assembly.
Learning of the history and culture of Turkmen nations is very topical for the members of the ABU in the light of the activity of this largest in the world broadcasting union on propaganda of humanistic ideals and organization of cultural exchanges. The 7th Asian Pacific TV song contest in Ashgabat on October 2, which was watched live by the spectators from dozens of countries, was another step in development of cultural dialog.
Early in the morning, the guests visited International Ahalteke Equestrian Complex where they were able to see the beauty and speed of ahalteke horses with their own eyes. The participants were introduced with large-scale work in the country, which is to increase the world glory of ahalteke horses and to provide the growth of their livestock.
It was mentioned that ancient traditions of national equestrian sport are successfully restored in the country for this purpose. Ahalteke horses are the glory and pride of the nation, indispensable decoration of all big celebration events in the country. Capital and regional equestrian centres regularly organize race competitions. Huge attention is paid to equestrian sport in the country and its active development indicates steadfast growth and success of the industry.
The guests were able to see this with their own eyes watching with delight stirring, excellent and wonderful performance of Galkynysh national equestrian games group and show jumping performance.
Outstanding performance of young Turkmen horsemen, who deservingly continue the traditions of the ancestors, wonderful beauty and grace of the horses made great impression of the guests.
There was an exhibition as well, which items told about the richest culture and original tradition of Turkmen people. The guests could see the sample of national dress, horse harnesses, household goods, decorative and applied art items, try national dishes and find out how to cook them as well to listen to beautiful melodies and songs.
In the afternoon, the participants of the forum visited the State Historical and Cultural Reserve Nisa where they learned about the history of Parthian fortresses, which were entered to the UNESCO World Heritage Book, findings of archaeologists and latest discoveries of the scientists.
Foreign guests has also visited the State Museum, which has huge collection of the artefacts and rarities – the evidence of the richest history and culture of our country. Archaeological discoveries, samples of ancient national dress, excellent carpets, silver jewellery, household appliances and exhibits speaking of modern Turkmenistan raised great interest.
Press conference of President of the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Union Supriya Sahu and the ABU Secretary General Javad Mottagi for representatives of national mass media was held in Yildyz Hotel of the capital, during which high level of organization of the forum in Ashgabat was noted.
The management of the ABU expressed the gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for support in organization of the 55th session of the Asian Broadcasting Union General Assembly, which would start officially in Yildyz Hotel next day, as well as for the hospitality in Turkmen land.
Briefing organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan dedicated to the importance of the ABU forum and its event, was held on the same day in Sport Hotel of the Olympic village of the capital.
