NTRA-MFA CONSULTATIONS ON THE LEVEL OF DEPUTY MINISTERS OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE CZECH REPUBLIC WERE HELD

On the 19th of February 2021, Intra-MFA consultations on the level of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Czech Republic, Vepa Hajiyev and Martin Tlapa, were held online.

After the exchange of warm greetings, the parties expressed reciprocal views on the necessity of intensifying the relations between the two countries in all spheres posing mutual interest.  

The parties considered the parliamentary cooperation. The Group of Friendship with the Czech Republic was established in the Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan. To advance the partnership in this regard, it was proposed to organize joint meetings and visits when the conditions allow.   

The diplomats also discussed the external policy priorities of two countries and cooperation between the Foreign Ministries. The closeness of approaches to the process of establishing universal peace, stability and sustainable development was noted. The cooperation on the platform of the UN and EU was thoroughly considered, including the reciprocal support of the peaceful initiatives. The significance of the development of legal-contractual foundation of cooperation was underlined.   

The Czech side highly appraised the active role of Turkmenistan in regional and international affairs, including the assistance to the advancement of the peace process in Afghanistan. 

The parties expressed interest in the development of trade-economic relations for which good potential exists. The issues of organizing online meetings between the Chambers of Commerce and business circles of the two countries were viewed. The Czech side highly appraised the cooperation of Turkmenistan with the World Trade Organization and expressed readiness to assist the next stages of the partnership with this respected organization.      

Speaking of the pandemic situation in the world and its socio-economic impacts, the parties considered the prospects of cooperation on the establishment of transport and transit corridors linking Asia and Europe.  The issues of energy and energy security were touched upon.  

The parties also discussed the aspects of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
