MEETING WITH THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF COMMUNICATIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LATVIA
On October 10, 2018, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there was a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Communications, Deputy Secretary of State of the Republic of Latvia Uldis Reimanis, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
In the course of the dialogue, noting the positive dynamics in the development of bilateral relations in the political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian sectors, the sides expressed readiness for their further expansion.
Noting the work of the bilateral Turkmen-Latvian working group on transport, Mr. Reimanis expressed a number of proposals for the further development of transport cooperation, taking into account the development of bilateral multimodal corridors. Noting the role of the geographical location of Turkmenistan, the distinguished guest noted interest in expanding bilateral transit corridors. Then the Deputy Minister of Communications of Latvia provided the Turkmen side with materials on Latvia's logistical capabilities.
In turn, the Turkmen side informed about the country's progress in the transport sector and logistical opportunities, as well as of joint projects in this direction which are possible for the implementation.
The parties agreed to consolidate joint efforts in the transport sector to further expand the trade turnover of both countries.
